Mounts
In the game of Monster Hunter Freedom Enrage there will be Mounts that you can ride on. Mounts will allow for quicker travel across open ground, although they cannot be used in the Frozen Peak caves or other tight areas. Mounts may be leveled up, and doing so increases their speed, health and defense. You may go for additional training for defense or speed, but be careful, as higher defense means lower speed and vice versa. All mounts are Aptonoth, as they are the most versatile and may go pretty much anywhere. However, certain areas will hinder your mounts ability. The cold mountains will drain your mounts stamina, while hotter zones like the volcano and desert will damage your mount slowly. Certain training can raise weather resistance. To purchase a mount, you will need a starting fee of around 5,000z for a level 1. To buy a level 5 or higher, you will need an addition 1,000 for each level. For 11 or higher, it costs 2,000 per level. 21 or higher requires 3,ooo per level. Before you may take your mount on a quest, you must undertake 3 seperate training sessions under the mount trainer. Each of these will teach you the basics of how to care for and use your mount. One Hunter can have only 2 mounts, but only one mount is allow to aid you during each quest. There will be spots for hunters to rest and store their mounts, both in the guild hall and during a quest. Your mount can die if you dont take good care of it. There are three ways that this can occur: Mount’s Health Bar is down to 0, or the hunger bar is down at 0 for longer than 15 minutes (there is specific food to feed the mount, the hunger bar decreases from 100 because of Sprinting). The last way is not avoidable, this is the end of the mount’s life span which is anywhere from 70 to 80 playing hours. A mount will not come back to life if it is dead. If your mount dies of the first two scenarios, you will not receive anything for it, but the for the last way you may can sell the corpse of your mount for half the amount you paid for it.
What monsters could be a good canidate for a mount? I thought of Popo, anteka. Definally not bosses though.
I don’t believe they should be able to attack. Instead, mounts should be herbivores, and entirely passive. You should only use them to get places, and they should be restrictions on where they can be used. Plus, I don’t think you should be able to trade them for weapons/items, as I don’t think a dead aptonoth is worth two g-rank weapons or a Rathalos Plate. Aptonoth is the ideal mount, as a Popo can’t go anywhere aside from the tundra. But you can’t bring mounts to the volcano, the only herbivore there is Apceros and you can’t ride those. Again, they shouldn’t have attacks, as it would be too much like Pokemon or something.
I personally think that mounts should be able to launch some kind of attack toward the enemy. For instance a aptonoth should be able to run toward the enemy or charge at them and deals damage. Or use their spikes on the tail to sting the enemy. The reason that i think you can trade in a mount is because that you will be spending a load of money on them, to upgrade their attack ability, defence power and traveling speed. For example, a popo have bone tusks, you can upgrade it by paying amount of money and items, like one upgrade could be iron tusks, and that will require 10k z and 50 iron ores. And after the upgrade, popo will deal a larger amount of damage toward the enemy whenever they use the attacks that uses their tusks. Like human, a mount should be able to aid their master to any enviroment, but in certain envoriment like the volcano that you have mentioned, their speed, health, stamina will decrease rapidly, and increase the chance of the mount dying.

Dude, I’ve seen this sort of idea on the wiki, and many people vehemently oppose the idea for the simple reason that you shouldn’t be able to control monsters and fight with them. It’s like turning Monster Hunter into Final Fantasy or Pokemon. But yes, I suppose you could use some extra speed. And the whole trading for items/weapons is a little skewed. After all, a dead Aptonoth is not worth a Terra Shogun Lance or Copper Blangonga Longsword. Nor is it worth a Nargacuga Brainstem or Rathian Ruby. So they should only be for transport, and you should be able to tie them to natural formations like trees or stones. But if you’re not careful about it they may be eaten by large predators.
So are you will opposed to the idea of mounts having attacking powers? I mean i am not going to make popo shoot a fireball at a rathalos or anything. Just normal charges and tucks attacks etc. And there should be food to feed them with, which recovers stamina.and mount can be killed if health is lowered to 0. And there should be upgrades for mounts speed, att, def powers. also, you should be able to attack on top of a mount if you are using lance, bow, bowgun or other long ranged weapons. There should a shop specificly for mounts. Mounts should be able to follow the hunter to anywhere, but certain areas could slowly kill the mount.
Tell me which ones you are agreed to, and we will figure something out.
Yea, I’m opposed to attacking mounts, after all, you are the one that should be hunting it, not your mount. I’ve already got a giant sword, I don’t need a metal tusked Aptonoth also. Plus, we already have Felyne Comrades, soz…And what would be the point of attacking on the top of a mount, after all, you become an easier target.
“On through the dead of night, we the four horsemen ride!”- I’ll be singing that when we are riding aptonoths. Too bad you guys don’t know the song.
